Christmas Fun Day

Christmas Fun Day will be comprised of three principle elements, with the aim of having lots of festive fun and keeping warm:

  • Medley of Games organised by coaches with a few parents helping out;
  • Treasure Hunt – Raquel, Gavin and a number of  willing parents will keep the kids guessing and running around for the “treasure”  (no cost as left over spooky sweets)
  • Visit from Mr. S. Clause (organised by the mini section), but each age group has to organise their own gifts for the kids

We will organise a small gift (value of £8) for the kids, so please can you confirm if you will be attending and bring £8 to training next week. I will be maintaining a list of who has paid and if you cannot attend at the last minute, I will keep hold of the gift to give to you at the next training session in Jan.

I am confirming with the club, but will be trying to see if they can organise a few festive treats for the parents too!

Lastly, I have no update on the new jerseys as yet, but will let you know on Sunday if there is any more news on this.

Thanks and see you Sunday (hopefully still in the sun)!

Welcome to the U6 2011 ~ 2012 season

As many of you have come up through the ranks, I hope your kids enjoy what Gian-Franco and the coaches have planned for this season. For those of you who are new to the club, we hope you enjoy it as much as the U5's did last year! If the numbers are anything to go by, we are the most oversubscribed year the club have had for the season. This is a fantastic endorsement of the efforts the coaches have put in to ensure the kids enjoy their rugby.

Before we move onto the admin side, we are fortunate to have a very eager social secretary (Jono) who has some great ideas for parents events throughout the season. We don't have any firm plans yet, but Jono will be emailing you soon. If you do have any ideas, please send them through.

Onto the admin side.  As you should know by now, training session are held on Sundays, starting at 10am and finish up at 11:30am and are based on the fields closest to the tennis courts. As it is a fairly long session, please remember a drink and snack for half time (the usual drinks and snacks will be sold in the clubhouse if you forget).

There will be a table set up for U6 registration.  The process has changed slightly, when you arrive, please sign in first and then we can issue you with a bib. This is to ensure that we do have the correct records of who is playing each week and also to regulate the number of players in each colour team.

We are also requesting parents to sign a permission slip so that we can take pictures of all the U6 players.  A head and shoulders shot will be taken (should you agree), this will enable coaches to quickly get to know each member of the team.  Additionally we are thinking of taking photos once a month, so as to update the U6 website with how we are doing or any other news from the week.  Photo’s will also be taking of all the coaches and first aiders. A copy of this will be available for every parent, so you can get to know the team.

Please note that the shop will open early in the season for any new kit required. You will also notice that there is a new format Mini rugby jersey, which is reversible and now the same as the Youth jersey. Please don't worry if you have last year's jersey, as we will not be requiring everyone to buy the new kit. We understand that this change to the new kit will be transitional as kids grow out of the old style jerseys.

A reminder that the boots should have detachable studs to comply with rugby rules. Boots should NOT be worn in the carpark.

Lastly a reminder that parents are required to stay for each session, as only you can truly comfort your child in the event of any tears from the bumps and bruises of rugby. While we are delighted that many of you are so eager to join in, please note that for the safety of the children, only CRB checked volunteers (coaches, referee's and first aiders) are permitted on the pitches.

I hope you are all enjoying the last of the summer sun.  If you have any queries or issues, please feel free to get in touch.

Regards,

Carolyn
