Ealing 'B' Festival - 12th October 2014

Winners!

Weather set fair, and as the lorry wasn’t booked for the tent removal we went tentless… quite liberating !

Hackney   Won 2 tries to 1 (no conversations were taken)

Not our best game with balls going astray on final passes, missed tackles and the forwards being very slow to start. An improved 2nd half gave us a worthy  win but the boys realised they must improve.

Ealing   Won 5 tries  to nil

Much, much improved. We had time to warm up properly both in mind and body. Heads up rugby, and a fabulous forwards display gave up opportunity to run tries in… which the boys did with style. Ealing actually asked if this were our only / best team… no buddy this isn’t !

Teddington    Lost 1 try to nil

As last week the boys were unlucky to concede a dubious try, but in truth we weren’t very good. A draw would have been a fair result as Teddington were up to the task. Tears were shed after an unconvincing performance, not by me on this occasion….

Second in the pool allowed us to face the other pool winners. Bank of England.

Bank of England    Won 3 tries to 1

An excellent display. Everything pin pointed that wasn’t very good in the previous game was first class in this. Tackling was fierce and rucking faultless. The boys won ball after ball with Bank under pressure for long periods. The back line was moving again and when they get time they score tries. Marcus was questioned on how you coach the boys to play that way…. In truth we have just got quality players.

Final         London Welsh   Won 1try to nil

Total commitment from player 1 – 13 (down to bare bones with no subs for final 2matches). Walking wounded didn’t moan or groan, they played for their mates. Rugby was hard but fair with tackles a plenty. Rucking again superb and back line faultless. A tough well earned victory lads !

I may have done a bit of opposition coach baiting…. Thanks lads for letting me talk the talk… and walk the walk… much appreciated. Big thanks to parents who are always so supportive of what we are trying to do, thanks to Marcus and Rory for their support, Karin for first aid and these stars below….
