Funding Boost for Cobham Sports Association (CSA)

Cobham Sports Association (CSA) is today celebrating the news that it has received a £28,768 funding boost from SITA Trust for their project to provide welfare facilities for the sports ground at Fairmile Road.

The grant from SITA Trust will allow the complete refurbishment of a disused and derelict toilet block adjacent to three sports pitches where currently no welfare facilities exist.  Approximately 4,000 adults and children utilise this site, on over 30,000 separate visits per annum, and they are provided with only temporary toilet and first aid facilities. This is not sustainable and the provision of these refurbished permanent facilities will significantly improve the experience and enjoyment of players, spectators, officials and visitors.

Steve Robinson, Chair of CSA, commented “We are extremely grateful to SITA Trust for their support. The lack of welfare facilities on this site, particularly disabled facilities was a significant concern and the grant has enabled us to bring forward the project by 2 or 3 years. Without SITA Trust the full use of our new pitches and by all sections of the community would have been curtailed. We start on site within the next month and can’t wait! “

Marek Gordon CEO and Chairman of SITA Trust added “We are delighted to have been able to support this project through the Landfill Communities Fund. This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.2 billion.”
