John Shanahan service: parking arrangements

Details of the service of thanksgiving and remembrance for John and parking arrangements

From Caroline Bennett:

A service of thanksgiving and remembrance for John’s life will be held at St James’s Parish Church in Weybridge on Wednesday 18th December at 1.00pm.  It is just off the High Street – postcode KT13 8DN.  There is a public pay & display car park next to the church, but be warned, it could be very busy.

This will be followed by a party at Cobham Rugby Club, Fairmile Lane, Cobham  KT11 2BU.  The club will be open from 2.00pm and we hope as many of you as possible will be able to come along – as you know, John always loved a party and would want to buy everyone a pint! There is parking on site at the rugby club. If you are able to come to the club, please just send me a quick email back so that we have some idea of numbers for catering.

The family only will go to a private cremation after the church, and will join you as soon as we can.

It will be family flowers only – but anyone who would like to can make a donation to the Sam Beare Hospice via the funeral directors’ website – http://www.lodgebros.co.uk/ -  just click on ‘Make a Donation’ and enter his name.  The Hospice community team have cared for John and me over many months, and he was an in-patient for just over a week before he died, including the extraordinary last four days and nights when virtually the entire family moved in there.  We owe them so much.

Thank you all for the overwhelming number of wonderful messages I have had over the past days.  As you can imagine it is very busy, but I am so grateful and all these will be passed on to the families in due course.

Love

Caroline

PARKING ARRANGEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY 18TH DEC

There is NO PARKING available within Munro House

There is restricted parking available at the Memorial Ground on Wednesday afternoon.

At the Memorial ground, please do not park in the spaces reserved for the occupiers of Munro House which are all clearly marked.

Overflow parking can be found in the surrounding roads leading off The Fairmile though not on The Fairmile road itself.

Overflow arrangements have been made, for those attending, to park on the tarmaced area to the right of the PREMIER INN HOTEL as well as in our designated spaces adjacent to the entrance to the Covenham Ground at the left hand side of the Fairmile Pub.

The gate adjacent to our road crossing will be open to enable easy access from the Fairmile site to the Clubhouse alongside the telecoms tower.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS PARKING TO TAKE PLACE ON THE GRASSED AREAS IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL OR PUB.

We are hoping to arrange parking marshals to be preset to give directions.

Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
