RFU Mini/Midi Refereeing Course

RFU Mini-Midi Referees Course @ Cobham RFC

    ** Note**
This course is unavailable at this time.  The RFU is in the process of developing a new course for refereeing Mini/Mini Rugby.

This course, both classroom and pitch based, is suitable for most Mini age groups as it covers basic elements including the process of refereeing, what makes a good referee, as well as managing the contact game. It is aimed at those who will referee only the Mini Midi game*.

There are 20 candidate places available. Please note both nights must be attended.

The cost of the course is £25. Candidates will be refunded by the club on completion of the course, providing they are, or will become, an active volunteer.

Prior to attending the course, you will be required to complete the online iRB Rugby Ready programme. You will then need to download your RugbyReady certificate and bring it with you to the course.  You will not receive your Mini Midi course certificate until you have completed the RugbyReady programme.  The online IRB Laws Test is a useful resource which you may also wish to complete. (Most rugby coaches will already have completed RugbyReady in which case just bring your certificate along on the first evening.)

If you would like to book a place on the course, please contact me with the following ~

                • Your name
                • Your role (coach/manager/parent)
                • Your age group(s)
                • Mobile phone number (or something you answer!)

I will then e-mail you an application form which you will need to complete and return to me. Places will be allocated on a strictly first come, first served, basis.

                        * To be able to referee in Surrey RFU Festivals, you must have attained the ELRA qualification. The RFU ELRA Referees Course (Entry Level Referees Award, which covers 15 a side rugby) is taking place in February at Cobham RFC. ELRA qualified referees can, of course, referee mini/midi rugby.

+ You could help your club tremendously by becoming ELRA qualified and refereeing an occasional Youth match when we are really desperate!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me.
