Youth Rugby

Welcome to Youth Rugby at Cobham for U13 to U18 teams

Cobham youth rugby is an integral part of our club through which we have a long history of outstanding rugby achievement at a local, national and international level.  A vibrant youth section is the life blood of a club and in this Cobham RFC has excelled over the years.  We provide a welcome environment for our youth players from U13 to U18 of all abilities.  Training is usually between 12pm and 2pm on Sundays and we arrange a number of matches, including participating in a league competition, throughout the season.

Our approach is to apply the highest quality and dedicated coaching resources focussing this on the players, not only to foster constant development of playing skills and ability, but also to recognise the whole individual as a maturing young man involved in a demanding sport encompassing teamwork, physical and mental strength.  This coupled with exemplary sportsmanship, camaraderie and profound sense of belonging to a close knit rugby community is what we stand for.

At Cobham RFC, this approach is augmented and delivered through the provision of simply outstanding rugby playing club facilities including pitches of the highest standards, a modern club house that is the envy of all who visit us and also through the provision of excellent rugby training equipment, first aid and physio facilities.

On the field, we have enjoyed the success in recent years of seeing young players develop and grow through our age groups, representing not just Cobham RFC , successfully competing at county and national levels, but also their schools to a very high standard.  Some of our youth players have gone on to attain the highest level one can in this sport in representing professional clubs and their country on the international stage.  The sense of belonging to a club that these elite players have has led, on many occasions, to them coming back to visit us either to participate in coaching or inspiring young players, or in social events, which is testimony to the sense of community that Cobham RFC represents.

We continue to work closely with local schools, providing coaching input and playing facilities where our expertise is welcomed, in striving to bring the game of rugby to as many potential players as possible such that they too can participate in all that the sport represents.  This outreach is in support of the wider RFU development plans of which we as a club are wholly supportive.

The Cobham rugby community is a broad and well established one with large numbers of dedicated volunteers who are generous with their time and expertise in making the youth age groups into a fun and growing section with over 200 players.  The time and effort put in by our parents and volunteers is especially appreciated in that it makes for a wonderful rugby club experience for all.

The club is also a social one with many events being held throughout the year with the emphasis on families and players, both past and present.  Our age groups participate in international rugby tours, which are always highly enjoyable and an excellent experience for all who attend.
